We are happy to announce a new addition to the already wide selection of PHP versions available on the ICDSoft servers - PHP 8.2. As usual, the new version brings a number of improvements, and users can find more information about the new features and backward incompatible changes in the official PHP documentation.
In addition to adding PHP 8.2, we are also changing the default PHP version for new accounts and subdomains on our servers from PHP 7.4 to PHP 8.1. This change will ensure that new accounts and subdomains use an up-to-date version of PHP out of the box. Previous PHP versions remain available for selection in case users' software is not yet ready for PHP 8. Users can easily change the PHP version on a per-subdomain basis via the hosting Control Panel > PHP Settings section.
It's important to note that PHP 7.4 has reached its end of life (EOL) and is no longer receiving security updates (more information is available at https://www.php.net/supported-versions.php). This makes it very important that users migrate to PHP 8.x as soon as possible in order to improve the security of their websites and applications.
We understand that many customers have applications and scripts that are not compatible with PHP 8.x. For these customers, we will continue to support older PHP versions such as PHP 7.4 for as long as possible. Still, for the sake of both performance and security, we urge everyone to regularly update their software and make sure it is compatible with PHP 8.
